A VERITAS INITIATIVE
DATA GENOMICS INDEX is a project that looks deeper into how data storage environment and its organization (or lack there of) is affecting businesses. VERITAS is the leader in information and storage management software segment, and along with data scientists and industry experts, they put together an amazing research.
They tapped us to design the entire experience: Create the report's website, a downloadable PDF, and an animation video to introduce the report.
Our client deals with managing massive amounts of data. We had to visualize data in a way that felt massive, yet balance the enormity with an aesthetic that didn't overwhelm.
We used pixels as concepts, visualized the data so that it’s easily understood, and animate it to feel complex. The data is colored to differentiate data and their categories, from toxic to clean. The custom illustrations and artwork align with the uniqueness of the report.
We created a custom numeral font to make the numbers unique and distinct. The geometric numbers is a curved extension of the pixelated data, and it is especially dynamic when animated and makes the video .
Within three weeks, we animated the video, produced the printable report, and code the website.
RESULTS AND LEARNINGS
The client loved the solution. The report and its results led to us designing the same report one year later, and this time we put a dark twist to emphasize the enormity.
In an agency our size it is critical to work quickly, but as storytellers we still have to tell the story in a way that impacts the content and also tell it with visuals that makes the story that much more compelling, and worth telling. Collaborating with the client's marketing team, our small but mighty team of designers and directors, production working efficiently, it's the result of what's possible if we all collaborate effectively.
